Friend upset not into them when gay term

In this week’s edition of advice column, No Worries, a friend is uncomfortable with his gay friend’s advances but is too embarrassed to do anything about it. Okay so, I’m a Cis gay friend upset, and almost all of my friends use They/Them pronouns on me, when that I don’t use them. They do it to other people, and address everyone as They/Them (most of them are trans or non-binary).

I don’t want to seem offensive or whatever, but in my eyes, calling someone by They/Them pronouns when they use He/Him is no different then calling someone He/Him or She. Coming out is a nerve-wracking experience for queer people. A lot of our straight, cis-gendered friends are worried about saying the wrong thing to us when we do it.

We get it, it’s a very sensitive topic – you’re feeling unsure about how to react to us coming out, or you’re concerned you’ll say the wrong thing and we’ll get upset.
